Overview
CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health provides you with the skills and knowledge to provide self-directed recovery and orientated support services to people with co-existing mental health and drug and alcohol dependencies, working with trauma-informed care frameworks.
This course is an introduction to mental health, ideally suited to individuals with some experience in community/health services.

Training Location
Classroom sessions are held at Unit 8 / 40 Meares Ave, Kwinana, Western Australia. Close to bus and train public transport.
Course Delivery
The Certificate IV course is self-paced and you can enrol at anytime of the year.
The course duration can take between 6 to 18 months, depending on individual commitment and experience in the field.
Delivery can be via a flexible combination of:
- Classroom sessions
- Simulation in class scenarios
- Home study
- Workplace experience (80 hours), for which we find your placement.
You may apply for Recognised Prior Learning (RPL), if you have achieved any level of skills and knowledge equivalent to the learning outcomes (resume, letter from employer etc). Credit Transfers are available if you have successfully completed any of the current unit/s.

- CHCDIV002 – Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety
- CHCLEG001 – Work legally and ethically
- CHCMHS002 – Establish self-directed recovery relationships
- CHCMHS003 – Provide recovery orientated mental health services
- CHCMHS004 – Work collaboratively with the care network and other services
- CHCMHS005 – Provide services to people with co-existing mental health and alcohol and other drug issues
- CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma informed care
- CHCMHS008 – Promote and facilitate self-advocacy
- CHCMHS011 – Assess and promote social, emotional and physical well being
- HLTWHS001 – Participate in workplace health and safety
Enrolment requirements
To enrol in this course you must:
- Be an Australian Residence or Citizen, or have an appropriate visa to study this accredited certificate.
- Be reasonably fit and physically capable of performing the role.
- Meet the foundation skills (literacy and numeracy levels) necessary to perform in the role.
- Preferable to have some experience in leisure and health services.
- National Police Clearance certificate.
- Be able to sign a Statutory Declaration about criminal history at enrolment.
- USI Number (Unique Student Identifier). If you don’t have one, you can apply online www.usi.gov.au.

- Provide Photo ID (Driver’s License or Passport)
- Provide Proof of Residency / Citizenship (Birth Certificate / Passport).
- Deposit of $600 deposit to secure enrolment.
Placement Requirements
To get placement for this course you must:
- Hold a current National Police Clearance (apply online).
- Proof of minimum 3 Covid vaccinations.
- Proof of Influenza vaccination (current year).
- Statutory Declaration about criminal history, signed at enrolment appointment.

Course Fees
The total cost for this course is $3380.
A deposit of $600 is paid on enrolment. The remainder of the fees are to be paid in installments over the first 6 months of your course.
