Overview
The Aged Care Refresher short course is for those who have previously completed an accredited certificate for aged care, and are seeking a refresher. Whether you are currently working, or you need to re-enter the aged care workforce after taking a break, then this course is for you! This is one of Bestwest Care’s non-accredited short courses with flexible options.

Training Location
Classroom sessions are held at Unit 8 / 40 Meares Ave, Kwinana, Western Australia. Close to bus and train public transport.
Course Dates
The course is self-paced, running over a minimum of 2 weeks.
Course Delivery
This includes 4 days of practical classes in person, at Bestwest Care Training Rooms, plus online theory at home.
Topics Covered Include:
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (1 day plus online theory)
- Manual Handling (4 hours)
- HLTAHA013 Provide Support with Dysphagia Management (3 hours)
- Personal Care (1 day)
- Ageing Scenarios (1 day)
- Infection Control and Work, Health and Safety – Online
Enrolment Requirements:
As this course includes nationally recognised units, you will need a basic level of physical competency to meet the necessary performance level required. This means you need to be able to perform CPR on an adult and infant manikin placed on the floor for a period of two minutes and respond to an emergency situation where there may be risk to life.
You are not required to have any prior medical training before enrolling in this course and it is appropriate for both first-time learners and as a refresher course.
As an Elective Unit
The Aged Care Refresher short course is designed to equip you with the basic essentials to work in aged care work. It is aimed at Care Workers and is strongly recommended for all staff providing personal care.
The course includes a bundle of short courses which can also be completed in isolation if required.
